Hindustan Unilever rises on signing agreement to sell Water Purification business to A. O. Smith India

Hindustan Unilever is currently trading at Rs. 2643.45, up by 24.55 points or 0.94% from its previous closing of Rs. 2618.90 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 2620.65 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 2657.20 and Rs. 2620.65 respectively. So far 14412 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 2723.90 on 05-Jun-2024 and a 52 week low of Rs. 2170.25 on 16-Apr-2024.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 2657.20 and Rs. 2573.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 621349.41 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 61.90%, while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 25.91% and 12.18% respectively.

Hindustan Unilever (HUL) has signed an agreement for divestment of its Water Purification business carried under the brand ‘Pureit’ including the trademarks, copyrights and other intellectual properties and identified assets and contracts associated with the business, as a going concern on slump sale basis. The business is being sold to A. O. Smith India Water Products, a leading global water technology company.

This move is in line with company’s strategic intent to focus sharply on core categories. Pureit provides essential water purification solutions to millions of loyal consumers. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions, and HUL will continue to manage the business until the completion of the transaction.

Subject to fulfilment of terms and conditions as under the Transaction Documents, the completion of the transaction is expected within an estimated period of 3 months, subject to any extension as per terms of the Transaction Documents.

Hindustan Unilever is in the FMCG business comprising primarily of Home Care, Beauty & Personal Care and Foods & Refreshment segments.
