Tata Steel has donated Rs 1 crore for the installation of electric furnace in burning ghats in Varanasi. It has taken this decision considering demand for electric crematorium to perform the last rites of the deceased. Steel maker has offered financial assistance of Rs 49 lakh to Subarnarekha Burning Ghat committee for installation of 3rd Electric Furnace at Subarnarekha Burning Ghat in Sakchi.

The company has also contributed Rs 50 lakh for installation of the 2nd Electric Furnace crematorium facility under Harivartan project of Parvati Ghat in Bistupur.
