-1.35 (-0.56%) State-owned Oil and Natural Gas Corp (ONGC) has reportedly drilled the deepest well in search for oil and gas in the Krishna Godavari (KG) basin, thereby surpassing its own earlier world record set in January 2013 for drilling a well in optimum water depth.
The company spud well 1-D-1 in block KG-DWN-2005/1 in water depth of 10,411 feet (3,174 meters). Since 2004, ONGC has drilled over 100 deepwater wells, out of these, 25 wells have been drilled in water depth of 5,000 feet to 7,500 feet, and 16 wells in water depth of 7,500 feet to 10,000 feet.
