EIH to expand presence in Europe, set up 3 hotels

Oberoi Hotels is actively looking to expand in Europe and intends to open three out of its next five hotels outside India even as it continues to see opportunities in the domestic market. The group is going to increasingly expand through management contracts as well as a mix of equity investments.

The group’s flagship hotel firm EIH opened its new 202-room luxury hotel Oberoi Gurgaon under a management contract with Orbit Resorts. The company that operates two brands — Oberoi and Trident— expects to open the Trident Hyderabad by mid next year and will also open Oberoi Hyderabad by 2013. Oberoi Dubai is expected to open next year and its resort in Morocco is likely to be operational by 2014.
