8.65 (0.43%) Bharti Airtel, leading global telecommunications company, has decided to go legal for the Rs 650 crore penalty notice from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT). The company has reportedly expressed its displeasure on the said notice and has said that it has no justification both on facts and in law.
The Department of Telecom (DoT) earlier decided to slap Rs 650 crore penalty on Bharti Airtel for violating roaming norms in 13 circles between 2003-2005. The telecom service provider has been charged Rs 50 crore for each circle for routing national and international calls as local calls till 2005.
