Power Grid Corporation Of India Ltd.

State-run Power Grid Corp is likely to employ robotics technology to monitor power transmission lines and deploy helicopters for aerial patrolling. The company operates and maintains over 87,000 circuit kilometres of EHV (Extra High Voltage) transmission lines.

The entity carried out a demonstration of the robotics technology application on 400 kV transmission lines in live line condition. The company has signed an agreement with Canada-based Hydro Quebec for demonstration of their robotics technology on the entity's transmission lines.

Robotics technology will help live line visual and infrared inspection of transmission line conductors/ground wires, which will help in assessing condition of transmission lines in a better manner.
