JSW Steel is planning to set up a port-based steel plant in the coastal Kendrapara district of Odisha. In this regard the company has identified two to three sites, of which Kendrapara is most suitable place because of its proximity to Paradip Port and a port at Dhamara.

Meanwhile, the company has proposed to invest Rs 15,000 crore in the steel project. The plant’s capacity will be near three million tonne per annum or 10 mtpa. This will help the company to get raw materials and export finished steel products.

JSW Steel is part of the JSW group which, in turn, is a part of the O P Jindal group. JSW Steel is one of the largest steel manufacturing companies in India having units in Karnataka and Maharashtra producing crude steel, long steel and flat steel products.
