Amara Raja Batteries (ARBL), a manufacturer of advanced lead acid batteries for industrial and automotive applications, is planning to frame a strategy blueprint to get a dominant position in the Indian storage battery sector. For this, it is likely to make an investment of about Rs 700-crore with project comprising both brownfield expansion at the existing facility in Tirupati and a Greenfield facility near Chittoor. The proposed expansion is expected to be completed by FY15.
Amara Raja Batteries is engaged in manufacturing of industrial and automotive batteries. It was founded in 1985. ARBL was first to introduce Valve Regulated Lead Acid (VRLA) batteries with three-year warranty in industrial and automotive applications.
