-0.71 (-1.43%) Wind turbine maker, Suzlon is planning to set up offshore wind energy projects in the UK, and plans to build a manufacturing facility on the coast to facilitate this.
Though through REpower, Suzlon has installed and commissioned 500 MW in the UK. However, the logistics and 150 m size of the rotor blade and huge turbines did not make it viable to build them elsewhere, so a port-based facility would be required.
Recently, REpower Systems SE, wholly-owned subsidiary of Suzlon Energy signed a framework contract with EDF EN Canada Inc. to supply a total of 75 wind turbines in the Canadian province of Quebec. This is the third order from the framework agreement concluded between EDF Energies Nouvelles and REpower in November 2009.
