Maruti Suzuki India reports marginal rise in total sales in May

Maruti Suzuki India has reported a 3.17% year-on-year increase in its total sales at 180,077 units in May 2025 as compare to 174,551 units in May 2024. Total domestic passenger vehicle sales decreased 5.58% to 1,35,962 units in May 2025 compared to 1,44,002 units during the corresponding month of the preceding year.

Sales of Alto and S-Presso fell by 31.57% to 6,776 units in May 2025 compared to 9,902 units during the corresponding month of the preceding year. Sales of compact cars, including Baleno, Celerio, Dzire, Ignis, Swift and WagonR, decreased by 9.83% to 61,502 units in May 2025 from 68,206 vehicles in May 2024. Sales of mid-size car, Ciaz slumped 37.26% to 458 units in May 2025 compared to 730 units during the corresponding month of the preceding year. Sales of Utility vehicles, consisting of Brezza, Ertiga, Fronx, Grand Vitara, Invicto, Jimny and XL6, raised marginally to 54,899 units in May 2025 over 54,204 units in the year-ago period.

Sales of van Eeco were increased by 12.47% at 12,327 units in May 2025 as against 10,960 units in May 2024, while that of light commercial vehicle Super Carry gained marginally at 2,728 units as against 2,692 units earlier. The company’s exports in May 2025 rose 79.76% to 31,219 units as compared to 17,367 units in the same month last year.
