Coal India forms subsidiary in Rajasthan

Coal India (CIL) has formed a subsidiary 'CIL Rajasthan Akshay Urja’ for carrying out renewable energy business in Rajasthan. The Ministry of Corporate Affairs, has issued certificate of incorporation to CIL Rajasthan Akshay Urja. 

The coal ministry had in January conveyed the approval of Department of Investment and Public Asset Management (DIPAM) for formation of JV of CIL and Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam (RVUNL). The said subsidiary has been formed with aim to develop, construct and operate the solar power projects, PSP projects and wind power projects or such other projects. CIL will undertake the business of selling the power generated from the projects to RVUNL. 

Coal India is the world’s largest coal mining company. It also produces non-coking coal and coking coal of various grades for diverse applications.
