-1.05 (-0.42%) Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has received approval for an investment of Rs 4,963.06 crore for setting up of 0.6GW (300MW Solar and 300MW Wind) renewable power project by 2028. The board of directors of the company in their meeting held on August 12, 2025 have approved the same.
Currently, the company along with its subsidiary -- ONGC Green hold a renewable capacity of 1.55GW, which is operating at 100% utilization level. Once the project is operational, it will provide operational savings to the company in addition to ESG compliance.
ONGC is India’s largest government-run corporation and produces about 70% of India’s crude oil and natural gas. The corporation is the biggest public sector commercial organization in India.
