Crude oil futures settle lower on Friday

Crude oil futures ended lower on Friday as investors opted to book profits made from the recent trades. While U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to intensify attacks on Iran, investors analyzed the impact of a likely output increase by the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries. 

Benchmark crude oil futures for September delivery decreased by $2.88 or 3.12% to settle at $89.31 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Brent crude for September delivery was down by $3.91 or 3.88% to settle at $96.78 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
