M&M soars higher on the bourses

Mahindra & Mahindra is currently trading at Rs. 738.55, up by 8.75 points or 1.20% from its previous closing of Rs. 729.80 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 734.80 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 740.00 and Rs. 722.10 respectively. So far 90726 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 5 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 874.75 on 28-Oct-2011 and a 52 week low of Rs. 585.10 on 28-Feb-2011.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 754.40 and Rs. 703.20 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 44807.88 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 25.18% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 47.03% and 21.28% respectively.

Auto major, Mahindra & Mahindra’s (M&M) Farm Equipment Sector (FES) division has reported a fall of 2.59% in tractor sales to 17,527 units in November. The company had sold 17,993 units in the corresponding month last year.

The company's domestic sales declined by 4.71% to 16,175 units during the month under review from 16,975 units in the year-ago period. Exports increased by 32.81% to 1,352 units during the month from 1,018 units in the corresponding period last year.

The company’s net profit after tax for the September quarter marginally declined by 2.78% of Rs 737.38 crore as compared to Rs 758.49 crore for September quarter of the year 2010. The company’s total income increased by 34.75% at Rs 7592.14 crore for Q2FY12 as compared to Rs 5634.13 crore for the corresponding quarter of the previous year.
