Bajaj Auto reports 8% drop in January 2014 sales

Bajaj Auto, the second-largest motorcycle manufacturer has registered a 8% drop in total sales to 3,18,171 units in January 2014 against 3,47,624 units in January 2013. The sales of the motorcycles decreased by 7% and stood at 2, 81,390 units in the month under review against 301,361 units in January 2013. The company has reported a 20% drop in Commercial Vehicles sales which stood at 36,781 units as compared to 46,263 units in month of January 2013.

Meanwhile, the company’s total exports out of the above stood at 137,644 units, an increase of 7% as compared to 1,28,482 units sold in the corresponding month last year.

Bajaj Auto is a $2.3 billion company founded in 1926. It is world’s fourth largest two and three-wheeler manufacturer. Bajaj Auto has three plants in all, two at Waluj and Chakan in Maharashtra and one plant at Pant Nagar in Uttaranchal.
