State Bank of India (SBI) has unveiled a new product, the ‘SBI-DSSC Combo Card’ for student officers and staff of Defence Services Staff College at Wellington, Nilgiris in Tamil Nadu. This Combo Card is a combination of a contactless chip-based smart card and a magnetic strip-based ATM cum - Debit card.

The security access card can be used within the campus for marking attendance in lecture sessions, to access library and sports facilities and pay mess bills, shop at the CSD canteen, etc. Besides even after the student graduates from the academy, the usual functionalities of an ATM/Debit and shopping would be valid and can be used anywhere in India and abroad.

Recently, SBI in an attempt to provide services to villagers at their door-steps had launched mobile banking facility. The bank had handed over the ‘Bank on Wheels’ vehicle to Meghalaya Rural Development Society at the SBI Shillong branch premises. The vehicle would cover unbanked areas and create financial literacy and awareness of banking habit among the rural masses.
