Mahindra to expand pick-up range

Date: 29-12-2010

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd plans to launch a new premium-end pick-up truck in the first half of next year. The new pick-up will be positioned near the top-end of its commercial vehicle pick-up range, with a payload capability of above one tonne.

Mahindra currently has five pick-ups in its commercial vehicle portfolio. The range starts with the Gio, Maxximo, three-wheeled Alfa and Champion models, and is topped by the Bolero-based Maxx 1.2 tonne pick-up.

The company has also launched the Thar compact sports utility vehicle (SUV), aimed at the off-road enthusiast. The SUV is equipped with a 2.5-litre diesel CRDe engine delivering 105 bhp and is priced at Rs 5.99 lakh. It is positioned as a replacement to Mahindra's open top jeeps such as the Classic, Legend, Commander, CJ 430 and MM 540.
