-17.60 (-0.89%) Kenya's telecom regulator has conditionally allowed a unit of India's Bharti Airtel and nation's leading operator Safaricom to acquire the assets of Essar Telecom Kenya under the brand yuMobile.
As per the deal, Bharti Airtel and Safaricom each will have to pay a $5.4 million fee for Yu’s licence and meeting several conditions. The conditions cover areas such as infrastructure sharing and cooperation between the companies on customer money transfer services and SIM registrations.
