The most awaited and highly publicized Lokpal Bill will be introduced in Lower Assembly tomorrow. In order to clear the said Bill government had extended winter session by three days. Government has also decided to replace the Lokpal Bill introduced in Monsoon session with the new one.

The largest opposition party - BJP has given its accord for the proposal. Finance minister Pranab Mukherjee held a meeting with leader of opposition in Lok Sabha Sushma Swaraj, her counterpart in Rajya Sabha Arun Jaitley and senior BJP leader LK Advani to discuss the issue.

Anna Hazare and team expressed disagreement over the new draft Lokpal Bill which excludes few of social crusaders demand. Hazare had demanded inclusion of CBI under Lokpal, however the draft excludes the investigating agency. Also another recommendation - overseeing group C and D employees under the Lokpal is seen as impractical by the government. The Prime Minister is although included under Lokpal’s ambit but with riders. The UPA Chair person - Sonia Gandhi said that the opposition and Team Anna should accept the government's draft bill; Congress is ready to fight for Lokpal and women's bill.

This has determined Hazare to continue with his three-day fast in Mumbai from December 27. 'A Lokpal without the power to oversee investigation of the CBI has no meaning. If the CBI continues to be under the administrative control of the government, it will be able to shield corrupt politicians and officials,' said Team Anna member Shanti Bhushan.
