Government agencies procure more than 263 LT of wheat

The Government agencies have procured more than 263 lakh tonnes (LT) of wheat across the states during ongoing Rabi Marketing Season, as per data available from the fields till May 21, 2014. The total wheat procured during the season is 263,85,171 tonnes while during the previous season, on the day, it was 246,60,475 tonnes.

The state of Punjab has led the procurement so far with 113,81,270 tonnes followed by Madhya Pradesh with 86,87,092 tonnes and Haryana with 64,62,094 tonnes.

Besides, other states that made significant procurement during the season include Rajasthan 19,24,834 tonnes, Gujarat 18,54,011 and Uttar Pradesh state with 11,67,907 tonnes.
