03 Jun 2014 Evaluate

National Mineral Development Corporation (NMDC) is all set to start operations at its steel plant at Nagarnar in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar district by next year. The plant, when completed, would be the second public sector steel plant of the Union Government, after Bhilai Steel Plant (BSP) in Chhattisgarh.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Raman Singh has sought speedy completion of Nagarnar Steel Plant project. With the completion of the plant, the social and economic development of the tribal dominated Bastar region would get a boost.

NMDC is a state-controlled mineral producer of the Government of India. It is fully owned by the Government of India and is under administrative control of the Ministry of Steel.
