With India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicting less-than-normal monsoon rains, Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik while presiding over a high level meeting, has asked the concerned department to disburse agriculture loan worth Rs 4,200 crore during the ongoing Kharif season to the farmers by the end of July.
So far crop loan amounting to Rs 1,000 crore has been disbursed to the farmers and the rest amount would be disbursed by the department before the scheduled time period.
The Chief Minister also notified the departments of agriculture, water resources and other departments concerned to prepare road maps to tackle any situation arising due to low rainfall. He also directed the agriculture department officials to provide the non paddy crops to the farmers if there will be any damage in the paddy crops due to erratic monsoon in the state.
