Idea Cellular soars after RBI permits FIIs to acquire up to 49% stake in the company

Idea Cellular is currently trading at Rs. 140.90, up by 4.85 points or 3.56% from its previous closing of Rs. 136.05 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 138.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 142.65 and Rs. 136.55 respectively. So far 10,11,000 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 188.35 on 15-Oct-2013 and a 52 week low of Rs. 125.10 on 28-Feb-2014.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 148.55 and Rs. 134.40 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 49,934.18 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 42.91% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 26.44% and 30.65% respectively.

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has allowed foreign institutional investors (FIIs) to buy up to 49% stake in telecom operator Idea Cellular. The FII limit in the company was 24% earlier.

The decision to increase the FII limit in the company has come after passage of resolution at the board of directors’ level and a special resolution by the shareholders for enhancing the limit from 24% to 49%. FIIs held 19.51% share in the company as of quarter ended March 2014.

Idea Cellular, an AV Birla group company, provides Global System for Mobile communications (GSM)-based wireless service at the pan-India level, it is present in all 22 telecom circles.
