Lupin trades with traction on the BSE

Lupin is currently trading at Rs 1041.40, up by 12.85 points or 1.25% from its previous closing of Rs 1028.55 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 1028.55 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 1052.90 and Rs. 1028.55 respectively. So far 35350 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 2 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 1036.00 on 26-Jun-2014 and a 52 week low of Rs. 742.30 on 28-Aug-2013.

Lupin is planning to expand its footprint in Europe by acquiring generics manufacturers for as much as $1 billion. The company is eying those entities that are capable in complex generics like inhalation products and injectables, dermatology products and biosimilar drugs.

Europe is attractive because it has clearer regulations than the US on biosimilars, or copies of biotechnology therapies. Europe contributed 3 percent of Lupin’s sales last year.
