ONGC shuts some wells in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh

Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has shut some wells on two on-land gas fields in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh following a fire in a pipeline that carried the gas to consumers.

A fire was reported in state gas utility GAIL India’s pipeline that carries gas to Lanco’s Kondapalli power plant near Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh. At least 15 persons are reported to have been killed in the fire which followed a blast.

ONGC is an Indian multinational oil and gas company headquartered in Dehradun, India. It is India’s largest oil and gas exploration and production company. It produces around 69% of India's crude oil (equivalent to around 30% of the country's total demand) and around 62% of its natural gas.
