NTPC plans to start production at two Chhattisgarh coal mines in 2016: Report

NTPC, the largest power generator in the country is reportedly planning to start production at two of its captive coal mines - Chatti Bariatu and Kerandari - in Jharkand by June 2016. Further, another of the company’s mines -Chatti Bariatu (South) - in the state will be developed by 2038. Earlier, this three coal mines were forfeited from the state-run company as it failed to develop them within the stipulated time frame. But, the blocks were later returned.

NTPC is the largest power generating company in the country. It has also diversified into hydro power, coal mining, power equipment manufacturing, oil & gas exploration, power trading & distribution.
