Alstom T&D India secures contract worth Rs 27.70 crore

Alstom T&D India has bagged contract worth Rs 27.70 crore from Himachal Pradesh Power Transmission Corporation (HPPTCL) to supply a 66 kV gas-insulated substation (GIS) in Urni, Himachal Pradesh. The project is aiming to transmit power from new generation sources into the Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh, paving the way towards harnessing 23,000 MW of hydro power potential in the state.

The project scope includes design, engineering, manufacture, supply, testing, and commissioning of the 66 kV GIS, substation automation and control system. All equipment will be produced by Alstom’s state-of-the-art manufacturing facilities across India. The company’s new GIS in Urni will draw in the power from new generation sources, including hydropower, before transmitting into the grid.

Alstom T&D India is part of Alstom Grid, a global player in electrical grids. The company’s India operations account for over 13% of overall revenues garnered by Alstom Grid’s global operations. Apart from India business, other major contributors are the operations in France, the US, Germany and China.
