Steel Authority of India’s (SAIL) Durgapur Steel Plant (DSP) has registered 7% growth in finished steel production in April-June quarter of this fiscal. Moreover, three major finished steel units - section mill, merchant mill and wheel & axle plant - recorded growth of 10 per cent, 14 per cent and 12 per cent, respectively.
The finishing mills in the plant witnessed excellent growth in the first three months of FY15. The company has made plans to enhance production substantially in the remaining period of the year.
Further, the production of special and value-added products represented 76 per cent of the total saleable steel output of DSP.
SAIL is India's largest steel producing company. The company is among the five Maharatnas of the country's Central Public Sector Enterprises. The company has five integrated steel plants, three special plants, and one subsidiary in different parts of the country.
