Coromandel International to offer scholarship to girl students

Coromandel International, the fertilizer major is likely to provide financial support to girl students, while continuing its efforts to supplement the efforts of hardworking farmers. This initiative will be named as ‘Mana gromor rural girl child scholarship programme' of Coromandel International, part of the Murugappa Group. Coromandel International’s subsidiary Mana Gromor retail has been implementing this program in Andhra Pradesh.

Under this scholarship programme as many as 160 girl students from the Nalgonda district of Andhra Pradesh will benefit financially and it plans to support at least 960 students in the state including Warangal, Kurnool, Guntur, Krishna, and West Godavari districts, apart from Nalgonda during 2011-12. On January 2, 2012 the company will reward the selected girl students at a function in Nalgonda town. The aim of this programme is to extend financial support to poor rural girl students to ensure reduction in number of rural girl school drop-outs and help them go for higher education.

As per the programme scholarships worth Rs 2,500 and Rs 1,500 will be distributed to those girl students who have secured first and second ranks respectively in class IX from any of the Government schools in Nalgonda rural areas and currently pursuing 10th class.
