Steel Authority of India (SAIL) is reportedly in talks with the Telangana government for setting up a steel plant on the borders of Warangal and Khammam district. The proposed steel plant involves an investment of Rs 30,000 crore.
Besides, SAIL, NMDC and Rashtriya Ispat Nigam (RINL) are planning to invest Rs 15,069 crore this fiscal towards modernization and expansion, Rs 700 crore less than the actual outlay for the last financial year. Of total, SAIL will spend Rs 9,000 crore in current fiscal, followed by iron ore miner NMDC Rs 4,345 crore and RINL Rs 1,724.17 crore.
SAIL is India's largest steel producing company. The company is among the five Maharatnas of the country's Central Public Sector Enterprises. The company has five integrated steel plants, three special plants, and one subsidiary in different parts of the country.
