Physical rubber prices turn weak with the start of new year

Physical rubber prices turned weak on Monday owing to buyer resistance. Some selling was witnessed from dealers and certain growers as the market is still going through the peak production season. The weakness in other global markets too weighed on the prices.

Spot prices for RSS-4 variety closed at Rs 194/kg compared to its previous closing of Rs 195/kg ; while the RSS-5 variety closed at Rs 189/kg compared to its previous closing of Rs 192.50/kg.

In the futures market the contract of RSS-4 for January delivery closed at Rs 194.50 compared to its previous closing of Rs 197.92, while the contract for February delivery closed at Rs 197.60 compared to its previous closing of Rs 200.52 on the National Multi Commodity Exchange.
