Tata Power, India’s largest integrated power company, has installed a Reverse Osmosis plant at Power House no 6, Jamshedpur, in order to recover and reuse the blow down water from cooling towers. Cooling towers are a critical aspect of thermal power plants and require fresh water in order to facilitate power generation. Blow down water is the routinely shed waste water from these cooling towers which contains highly-dissolved solid content.
With the setting up of the reverse osmosis plant, waste water can now be recycled and reused. This unique waste water recovery plant is a fully automated PLC based system with a capacity of 240 cubic meters per day, thus enabling the saving of 7200 cubic meters of water per month.
Tata Power is India’s largest integrated power company with a significant international presence. The Company has an installed generation capacity of 8613 MW in India and a presence in all the segments of the power sector viz. Generation (thermal, hydro, solar and wind), Transmission, Distribution and Trading.
