Petronet to set up 1,200-MW unit at Dahej

29 Oct 2010 Evaluate

Petronet LNG plans to set up a 1,200-MW gas-based power plant linked to its Dahej terminal and will seek the approval of its board in a month, according to AK Balyan, managing director and chief executive officer. The gas business and power business normally go in tandem. For an LNG company like Petronet it makes sense to enter power because we would not be incurring any transportation costs (on fuel), there won’t be any VAT (value added tax),” he said.

The power unit will be set up for around 4,200 crore and would be commissioned in phases over 28-30 months. About 50 hectares of land have been acquired for the project.
