Jet set to expand fleet to capture European market

09 Jun 2011 Evaluate

Jet Airways will buy 10 Airbus A330s worth $2.5 billion for its international plans as it plans to transform New Delhi and Mumbai airports into hubs that will connect European destinations with those in South and Southeast Asia. The average cost of single-aisle A320 type is $80 million and that of widebody A330 type is $250 million. Airlines though, negotiate discount pricing and this is kept confidential as it differs from deal to deal.

The airline is looking at new destinations in Continental Europe, including Paris, Rome, Amsterdam and cities in Germany, and has already applied to government authorities for traffic rights. Jet Airways already flies to 24 international destinations, including London, Milan and Brussels in Europe. The Belgian capital is also the airlines’ hub for flights in and out of the continent. The airline was looking to expand at about 12% in the domestic market and 15% in the international. crackcrack
