Gas output drops again; crude oil output up 11%

With Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) continuing to produce less from its East Coast gas fields, domestic natural gas production fell for the fifth straight month in April.The output dropped by 9.3 per cent year-on-year to 4.1 billion cubic metre, according to data released by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.

Domestic refiners turned 6.6 per cent more crude oil into fuel in April as against the same month last year. The domestic refiners processed 14 million tonnes of crude (13.136 million tonnes). While the 17 public sector refineries processed 10.4 per cent more crude oil during the month, the combined output of the private refineries dipped 1.7 per cent year-on-year.
