SCI to launch Direct Shipping service to Myanmar from September 28

Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) will be launching Direct Shipping service to Myanmar. The service will commence from Colombo on September 28, 2014, with the deployment of a 1,200 Twenty Foot Equivalent Unit (TEU) ship, SCI KAMAL.

The proposed service launched under the dynamic initiative from the Ministry of Shipping, between India and Myanmar will commence the flow of cargo between the two countries which will now be connected through Chennai & Krishnapatnam (India) and Yangon (Myanmar). This service will link SCI's long-haul services to the Far East, UK and Middle East at Colombo.

With this service, SCI has provided integrated transport links to its clientele worldwide. With the commencement of this service, the transit time for imports and exports to/from Yangon will be substantially reduced.

SCI is the only Indian shipping company operating break-bulk service, international container service, liquid / dry bulk service, offshore service, passenger service, in addition to manning / managing a large number of vessels on behalf of various government departments and organizations.
