NMDC rises on incorporating SPV for setting up power plant

NMDC is currently trading at Rs. 176.25, up by 3.65 points or 2.11% from its previous closing of Rs. 172.60 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 174.50 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 176.30 and Rs. 173.70 respectively. So far 6,823 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 1 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 304.90 on 07-Apr-2011 and a 52 week low of Rs. 136.15 on 20-Dec-2011.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 176.30 and Rs. 164.00 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 69,878.00 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 90.00% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 9.17% and 0.82% respectively.

NMDC has incorporated a special purpose vehicle (SPV) company - NMDC Power for the purpose of setting up a power plant for captive power supply to the 3 MTPA integrated steel plant being constructed at Nagarnar. The company has incorporated NMDC Power on December 12, 2011.

NMDC Power is presently a wholly owned subsidiary of NMDC and by virtue of the Companies Act, 1956 it is also a government company. The certificate of commencement of business was issued on December 29, 2011.

Recently, NMDC had signed the contract for By Product Plant package costing Rs 509.00 crore for the upcoming 3 MTPA Integrated Steel Plant at Nagarnar, with the consortium lead by Shriram EPC on January 10, 2012.
