Export of oilmeals stood at 82,749 tons in September

Oilmeals export stood at 82,749 tons in September 2014, a drop of 73% compared to 301,717 tons in September, 2013, as per data compiled by Solvent Extractors’ Association of India (SEA). The total export of oilmeals during April-September, 2014 is reported at 950,599 tons compared to 1,657,697 tons i.e. down by 43%.

Export of soybean meal greatly reduced in last 6 months due to lower crop than expected which resulted in to high cost of soybean in local market. This lead to total disparity for soybean meal in international market. Brighter side is that share of rapeseed meal has increased from 417,668 to 572,352 in last 6 months.

Oilmeal import by South Korea from India during April-September is reported at 464,555 tons compared to 518,178 tons, consisting 258,729 tons of rapeseed meal, 204,082 tons of castor meal and 1,744 tons of soybean meal. Iran imported 142,357 tons compared to 571,171 tons last year consisting of 35,500 tons of soybean meal and 106,857 tons of rapeseed meal. Thailand imported 94,009 tons compared to 100,248 tons, consisting 91,602 tons of rapeseed meal and 2,407 tons of soybean meal.

Besides, Vietnam imported 70,051 tons compared to 72,622 tons last year consisting of 22,684 tons of rapeseed meal, 5,772 tons of soybean meal and 41,331 tons of rice bran extraction. Taiwan imported 39,528 tons compared to 45,817 tons of last year consisting of 25,296 tons of rapeseed meal and 14,194 tons of castor meal and small quantity of 38 tons of soybean meal. Europe imported 42,209 tons compared to 196,744 tons of last year.
