Sugar stocks under pressure on SC directives

The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed the private sugar mill owners in Uttar Pradesh to clear the dues of sugarcane growers. The Apex Court also directed private sugar mill owners to pay total dues of around Rs 1,000 crore to the farmers for the year 2006-08. A bench of seven SC judges will finally decide the right to set sugarcane prices that mills are obliged to pay farmers, SC directed.

Balrampur Chini Mills was currently trading at Rs 39.80, down by 0.95% or Rs 2.33 from its previous closing of Rs 40.75. There were 5.98 lakhs share traded on the BSE.

Bajaj Hindusthan was currently trading at Rs 29.75, down by 0.70% or Rs 2.30 from its previous closing of Rs 30.45. There were 13.26 lakhs share traded on the BSE.

Dhampur Sugar Mills was currently trading at Rs 33.25, down by 0.50% or Rs 1.48 from its previous closing of Rs 33.75. There were 0.96 lakhs share traded on the BSE.
