Priyanka Gandhi steps up to help Rahul Gandhi; will campaign for UP elections

Amidst the growing rivalry amongst political parties for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, daughter of Congress chief Sonia Gandhi has decided to help brother and Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi. Priyanka is presently in Amethi -- the parliamentary constituency of her brother and will be discussing the road ahead with him. The polls will be held on February 08, 2012 followed by counting on March 06, 2012.

'I have not decided yet. So far, I am here for a meeting in Raebareli and my brother and I will talk to each other and decide,' said Priyanka. Responding to question about her long term career plan in politics Priyanka said her brother knew 'to what extent he can require me.'

2012 Election being significant for Rahul Gandhi’s political career, Congress is leaving no stone unturned to ensure win of the ruling party in Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections. Priyanka may be seen at the rallies in other constituencies besides Raebareli and Amethi wherein she is expected to campaign extensively. In Raebareli on Tuesday she will be meeting party workers and local MLAs to finalize the party candidates for the poll -2012.

Besides this, Congress has also tried to lure voters in Chief Minister Mayawati’s state as cabinet cleared clouds around the proposal to fill vacancies for SCs and STs in Central Government jobs also issued a directive for about 50,000 positions to be filled. This move of union cabinet is seen as an attempt of proving that its only central government who is looking forward for progress and development of state.
