Unilever terminates Godrej Consumer’s license for Brylcreem brand

Godrej Consumer Products (GCPL) license for Brylcreem brand in India and Sri Lanka has been terminated by Unilever Home & Personal Care Int. B.V. (Unilever). The license has been terminated with effect from March 31, 2012.

This termination is consequent to the sale of global rights of the Brylcreem brand by SaraLee Corporation to Unilever. As a result of the termination, GCPL will receive a consideration of Rs 25 crore as provided in the licensing agreement for the brand.

The Brylcreem brand has a long-lasting history in India and is the leading male hair styling brand in the country.

Godrej Consumer Products is a leader among India's Fast Moving Consumer Goods companies, with leading Household and Personal Care Products. Its brands include Good Knight, Cinthol, Godrej No. 1, Expert, Hit, Jet, Fairglow, Ezee, Protekt and Snuggy, among others, which are household names across the country.
