US markets end modestly in red on Thursday

The US markets ended modestly lower on Thursday, reacting to remarks by European Central Bank President Mario Draghi, following the bank's decision to keep interest rates unchanged at record lows. Draghi said the bank's Governing Council will wait until next quarter to reassess current stimulus. On the domestic economy front the Labor Department reported that initial jobless claims fell to 297,000, a decrease of 17,000 from the previous week's revised level of 314,000. Now, all eyes are on Friday’s closely watched Labor Department monthly jobs report for November.

The Dow Jones industrial average lost 12.52 points or 0.07 per cent, to 17,900.1, the S&P 500 declined by 2.41 points or 0.12 per cent, to 2,071.92 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 5.04 points or 0.11 per cent, to 4,769.44.

Indian ADRs ended in red on Thursday, HDFC Bank was down by 0.18%, ICICI Bank was down by 0.12%, Wipro was down by 0.18%, Tata Motors was down by 1.65% and Infy was down by 1.34%.
