The Cotton Advisory Board (CAB) has estimated the production of cotton at 400 lakh bales for the given Cotton Season 2014-15 (October 2014 to September, 2015). Due to China's decision to offload its substantial stock of cotton, the market demand is short of supply. This decision by China has resulted in prices of cotton coming down.
In order to safeguard the interest of the cotton growers, the Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) has started procurement of cotton as per the Minimum Support Price (MSP) Operations, as per the information provided by the Minister of State (Independent Charge) in the Ministry of Textiles Santosh Kumar Gangwar.
