Cane crushing commences in 82 sugar mills in Uttar Pradesh

The crushing of cane has been started in 82 sugar mills this season in state of Uttar Pradesh. There are 119 sugar mills in the state, which includes 23 of cooperatives and one of state sugar corporation besides others that have to do crushing this season.

The government of Uttar Pradesh has issued directives to mills which have not started crushing to initiate the process for the same. 16.91 lakh quintal sugar has been produced so far.

According to data compiled by Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA), the domestic production of sugar up to November 30, 2014, in 2014-15 sugar season is 17.81 lakh tons (LT). This is 6.41 LT more than what was produced up to the same corresponding period last year when 11.4 LT was produced.
