The government of Chhattisgarh has procured 16,27,577 metric tonnes (MT) of paddy so far from the farmers during the ongoing kharif season under the minimum support price scheme. The procurement has begun from December 1 and would conclude on January 31, 2015. For this, the state has set-up as many as 1,976 paddy procurement centres.
The highest procurement of 1,77,820 MT of paddy was recorded in Mahsamund district, followed by Balodabazar-Bhatapara with procurement of 1.55 lakh MT, Rajnandgaon with procurement of 1.54 lakh MT and Raipur with procurement of 1.46 lakh MT.
Further, high procurement was also reported from districts like Dhamtari, Balod, Janjgir-Champa and Bemetara.
