PDP says ready to form Jammu and Kashmir government with support from BJP

Party's chief spokesperson Nayeem Akhtar told that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is ready to form the government in Jammu and Kashmir with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on issue-based agreements and even as the BJP top brass held a discussion with the party's state leaders in New Delhi to discuss government formation.

Akhtar said that formal talks are on with the BJP and the PDP has put its demands forward to the saffron party and added that the PDP wants to end tension along the border and that it was for trade with Pakistan, not terror and tension. PDP leader said referring to its alliance with the BJP at the Centre in the past that they want Vajpayee's mission be taken forward.

The BJP and the PDP have been exploring various possibilities for government formation since election results on December 23 threw up a hung Assembly. The PDP emerged as the single largest party winning 28 seats, followed by BJP's 25, National Conference's 15 and the Congress's 12 seats.
