Wipro surges on bagging order worth $400 million from Swiss engineering giant ABB

Wipro is currently trading at Rs 549.00, up by 7.00 points or 1.29% from its previous closing of Rs. 542.00 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 558.50 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 560.00 and Rs. 546.85 respectively. So far 24738 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 2 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 621.50 on 07-Oct-2014 and a 52 week low of Rs. 475.35 on 19-May-2014.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 564.85 and Rs. 539.15 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 135414.19 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 73.40 % while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 13.58 % and 11.06 % respectively.

Wipro, a leading global information technology, consulting and business process services company, has won a $400 million, multi-year IT infrastructure management contract from Swiss engineering giant ABB, making it the largest deal for the technology company.

The deal win underlines the nation’s third-largest IT company’s prowess in strengthening its cloud offerings, because it will move a lot of business applications to cloud in addition to maintaining the back-end technology of ABB.
