Container Corporation surges on seeking nod to increase FII holding limit to 34%

Container Corporation of India is currently trading at Rs. 1382.40, up by 21.45 points or 1.58% from its previous closing of Rs. 1360.95 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 1370.00 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 1407.90 and Rs. 1370.00 respectively. So far 3704 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 10 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 1539.00 on 26-Nov-2014 and a 52 week low of Rs. 700.20 on 14-Feb-2014.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 1407.90 and Rs. 1340.55 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 27067.29 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 61.80% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 32.80% and 5.40% respectively.

Container Corporation of India (Concor) has sought approval from shareholders to increase the foreign institutional investor (FII) holding limit to 34 per cent from the current level of 30 per cent. Concor has a 38 per cent public float. As of December 31, FII holding in Concor was at 25 per cent.

The decision to keep the limit at 30 per cent was taken several years ago. Now, with the Railways inviting more foreign investments, the company took a call to increase the limit. The decision to increase the FII limit, while capping it at 34 per cent, was taken by the Railway Ministry and Concor board together.

Container Corporation of India was established in 1988 and works mainly in three verticals -- cargo terminal, terminal operator and warehouse operator.
