The Congress hit out at senior party leader Janardhan Dwivedi over his recent statement where he said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi's victory in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections was a victory of 'Indian-ness.'
Congress general secretary and chief spokesperson Ajay Maken said that the recent statement given by Janardan Dwivedi of 'Modi's win in elections being a victory of Indian-ness' is wrong and unacceptable to the party. It has also been projected that Prime Minister Modi is a symbol of Indian-ness. The Congress Party strongly condemns the way 'Indian-ness' has been compared with Modi and added that Narendra Modi in no way reflects India's ideology or Indian-ness. What Janardan Dwivedi had said is definitely not the viewpoint of the Congress. The party leadership will discuss about the disciplinary action to be taken against him. Congress's view about 'Indian-ness' is completely opposite from what Janaradan Dwivediji had said.
Dwivedi said that Modi and BJP have been successful in convincing people that from a social point of view, they are closer to Indian citizens. In a nutshell, it is a triumph of 'Indian-ness and added that the elections were not a victory of the BJP or Modi but a defeat of the Congress.
