Crompton Greaves (CG) has been awarded with a prestigious contract worth Rs 119 crore by National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), the largest generation utility in India, for the design, manufacturing and supply of Generator Step-Up Transformers for its largest capacity, 800 MW super-critical thermal power plant at Darlipali in Odisha.
The order comprises 315 MVA 765kV single phase Generator Step-Up (GSU) Transformers, 85 MVA 765 kV Tie Transformers and 80 MVAR Shunt Reactors. The project is scheduled to be completed in thirty-two months. In addition to many orders of Generator Step-Up Transformers (GSU) and Interconnecting Transformers (ICT), this order for the highest rating of GSU transformers, puts CG on a strong footing as the strongest player in the UHV segment.
The company has won this order against stiff international competition and was hand-picked for this project due to its successful track record and strong relationship with NTPC having partnered them for various other power projects across India.
